Cream
Meadow Foods is the UK’s largest cream processing business – dealing with more than 100,000 tonnes of cream each year.
Growing consumer demand for skimmed and semi-skimmed milk means the volume of available excess cream in the UK has increased dramatically in the past decade. Our dedicated cream processing plant, based in Chester, is continually stepping up production and we are now the country’s leading producer of AMF and one of the largest producers of butter.
Anhydrous Milk Fat
AMF is produced exclusively from fresh, pasteurised cream. Using state of the art processing techniques, the milk fat is separated and extracted from the cream to create a clear yellow liquid, which is used for creating ice cream, chocolate and soft spreadable butters. It can also be used in reconstituted milk.
The quality of the processing means that the final product is 99.9% milk fat and contains no more than 0.1% water. This high quality AMF is either supplied as liquid or chilled until it becomes solid so that it can be stored and transported more easily.
Butter
Butter is a key ingredient in a wide range of foods from bakery goods, pastry and sauces to ice cream, confectionary, soups and ready meals.
As one of the UK’s largest producers of butter, Meadow Foods supplies many of the UK’s leading food manufacturers with the ingredient they need to add flavour and structure to their food.
Our products include sweetcream butter which is churned from fresh pasturised cream and can be supplied with or without salt. We also produce lactic or sour cream butter which has a sharper, more acidic taste.
